Thanksgiving, Spend it with family and friends or in store lines with strangers? |

So are you spending your Thanksgiving with family and friends or are you going to be one of the crazy deal finders out shopping, camping out or waiting in lines hoping to get a great deal? I'm just amazed every year the stores, decor and deals start earlier and earlier. This year it's seems like Thanksgiving is being forgotten and over shadowed by store flyers and doorbuster deals. I use to get the store flyers in my paper on Thanksgiving morning, I would sit down with a cup of coffee and check out the flyers and watch the parade. This year, the flyers showed up yesterday and in a bundle all of there own, no newspaper at all. Mostly I would browse them to get gift ideas. It has been years since I was one of those out at the crack of dawn hoping to score a deal. I'm all for finding a great deal, but at the rate things are going the spirit of the Holidays is going to be long forgotten. Instead of sharing memories of sitting around a Holiday table enjoying the company of family and friends will be replaced with stories of camping out and standing in line with strangers and fighting for the chance to be the first threw the store door to snag a deal. And lets not forget those who work at the retailers, most of them will be spending their Holiday at work. Remember the days when all the stores were either closed or were closed by 2-3 in the afternoon. Not anymore, many stores deals are starting at midnight on Thanksgiving night! That means all those employees are working hard to stock shelves and price items. They are not at home with family or friends enjoying a nice dinner. I plan to continue the traditions of my family, and hope to give my kids the same great memories I have. I also hope they one day will do the same. So let's remember today, to reflect on what we are Thankful for and not rush to make sure we save 50% off on an item that will get used, worn and then set aside. So what are you thankful today? I'm blessed and thankful for my family, friends, health, and the little things in life! I can wake up everyday with a roof over my head, my kids making noise, running and playing and having fun with their friends. Scott and I both have jobs and while it's hard sometimes we have a house, nice cars, we pay our bills and have food on the table. We give our kids anything they want within reason and my kids are happy and healthy. They know that you have to work and earn what you want in life it may be hard and take time but you can do and have anything you want if you work for it. My kids can be sassy at times, but they are good kids with manners and respect others. So let's try and remember the spirit of the Holiday Season. Much love and kindness to all! |
