I hope you are well! From wooly knits and warm boots, to puffy coats and cute hats, you’ve got bundling up your little one down to a science, but what about hair care? When temperatures drop, it’s not just wardrobes that need an overhaul, delicate hair calls for special treatment too. This season Cozy Friedman, founder of Cozy’s Cuts for Kids salons in New York City and the So Cozy hair care collection presents easy, effective protection from cold-weather with her kids’ hair solutions for soft, healthy hair no matter the season. Check out Cozy’s top tips to beat winter hair woes:

Shampoo Less Frequently

“Low temperatures and harsh central heating tend to dry out the scalp causing itching and flakes,” explains Cozy.

What to Do: Limit the number of times you shampoo your child’s hair during the winter months and switch to a rich, hydrating shampoo such as So Cozy 2-in-1 Conditioning Shampoo ($11.95). This tropical fruit-scented formula contains hydrolyzed wheat protein and Aloe Vera extract to soothe sensitive scalps and protect delicate hair.

Moisturize, Moisturize, Moisturize

“In the winter, the contrast between central heating and extreme outdoor temperatures can rob hair of moisture, making it dry and static,” warns Cozy.

What to Do: Just as you deep condition your own hair during the winter; give your child a once-monthly deep conditioning treatment as well. Slather on a rich conditioning formula such as So Cozy Conditioner ($11.95) and wrap your little one’s hair in a warm towel for ten minutes. Let the sweet strawberry-scented formula go to work on stressed-out kids’ hair with a hydrating blend of sweet almond oil and Vitamins A and E then remove the towel and rinse well to reveal significantly softer more manageable hair.

Use a Styling Aid That Also Hydrates

“Fine hair often becomes limp and flat during the winter months, making it much more difficult to style,” says Cozy, “Factor in dryness and you’ve got an unruly nightmare on your hands.”

What to Do: Stick to products that are free from alcohol, chemicals and heavy oils such as Cozy’s So Cozy Styling Cream ($13.95). This kiwi-scented formula features Vitamin E and Panthenol to hydrate, strengthen and condition, as well as Aloe Vera, silk amino acids and kiwi extract to keep hair soft and shiny. Apply before blow-drying and throughout the day to tame fly-aways and frizz.
